How do you start learning Pilates?
For a novice Pilates beginner, the best way to get started is to learn from professional Pilates instructor. Group classes are less expensive, but the instructor will not be able to give you all the attention you might need.
Pilates exercises are divided into levels — Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced — each with an increased level of difficulty. The novice student should learn the basics first and be introduced to the additional exercises over time.
The Pilates matwork is a great way to begin your Pilates experience. Matwork is possibly the hardest of all the Pilates exercises to master - no tricks, no gadgets, no equipment, just you, your mind and your body.
Remember repetitions for the exercises are short as the goal is the quality of movement. Modifications to the exercises are possible to allow for challenges in each individual. If you are struggling with an exercise, ask the instructor for a modification.
